BlackBerry 8830, quad band, world phone: check
Sandisk 4gb micro SD card that fits my phone and can hold pictures: check
2 months to find camera that takes same micro SD card: check
Sprint International unlimited Data plan for $40/mth: check (doesn't include Belgrade)
Google Voice account with 'follow me' phone number: check
VOIP that loads on blackberry that isn't Skype but is like it: check
I have all this, yet why is it so hard to make a phone call and email pictures home from Serbia?
The plan is to use my Blackberry via my Sprint account to update this blog, email pictures and generally stay in touch. With any luck, I'll be able to make phone calls via VOIP for a couple pennies a minute too. No one can tell me if my plan will work. Fact is no one's done it before.
Backup plan: buy country specific SIM card and go on to Google Voice and assign the SIM phone number to my Google Voice number. Use internet cafes as way to get email and log into Google Voice and update blog.
I am reasonable enough, however, to realize that absolutely none of this may work. Should it be this hard? My calendar says it's 2009, but it doesn't seem like it.

Don't you love technology? Look at it this way: at least you're quickly becoming a gear head expert (which is your wet dream anyway!).
